Article Abstract:

Portable computers are now widely used, allowing workers to remain constantly in touch with developments in their business wherever they are. However, offices are unlikely to ever become completely redundant, as people benefit from the sense of community offered by the office environment and computers can never fully replace the efficiency and effectiveness of personal communication. Companies which have forced staff to become more mobile have made considerable cost savings.

Article Abstract:

There will be 2.5 million CD-Rom drives in use in the UK by the end of 1995, and 8.5% of households now have a computer with a CD-Rom drive. CD-Rom technology is allowing the computer to become a vital educational and entertainment tool. There are a number of innovations currently under development in the area of CD-Rom, but there could soon be strong competition from a new type of disk which will store 13 times more data than the standard CD-Rom disk.

Article Abstract:

Dolby Surround Sound is a stereo system designed for the cinema and increasingly used in television. Granada have produced four television programmes with it. Films recorded in Dolby Stereo include the Surround Sound encoding, so where stereo can be received the extra depth will also be received. Although 8 million systems have been sold worldwide broadcasters are not keen to produce surround sound programmes because there are not enough viewers.
