When it comes to mass murder, Stalin had the edge over Hitler

Article Abstract:

Relatively little attention has been given to the fact that Joseph Stalin ordered the deportation of whole ethnic communities. More than 1 million people were moved to Siberia and other remote areas of the Soviet Union, with many dying on the journey or after their arrival. Stalin showed great vindictiveness towards ethnic groups such as the Balkars and the Tartars, not even sparing members of these groups who were serving in the Red Army. There is a danger that highlighting the crimes of the Nazis in the form of a Holocaust memorial day will conceal Stalin's crimes.

It is best to avoid politics, religion and nationalism, according to Rosa Rust, who spent several years at a special boarding school for the children of foreign revolutionaries near Moscow, Russia. Her parents returned to the UK while she was there, and were unaware that she had been sent to a slave labour camp, where she spent three years.
