An exhibition entitled 'The Artist's Model: Etty to Spencer' is currently being staged at Kenwood House in London, England. This exhibition focuses on artists and models in the UK from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century. The majority of the exhibits feature nudes. They include a Male Nude by the young Edward Wadsworth, dated 1911, Henry Scott Tuke's 'July Sun' and Mark Gertler's 'Young Girlhood.' The strangest exhibit is an anonymous scene from the 1890s in which a bearded model is posing as Jesus for a room full of sketching students.

The art of decoration and the colour of pleasure

The Tate Gallery in London, England, is currently staging a retrospective of the work of artist Patrick Heron. The paintings displayed present a chronology of the various influences on his work, and show many different forms. Their consistency lies in their use of colour, which Heron regards as both the subject and the content of his paintings. His paintings show a strong belief in the power of sheer, unadulterated colour, and this may make them unattractive to some people.
