Article Abstract:

It is widely accepted that the Internet carries a range of illegal pornographic material, especially that relating to children. However, there is considerable controversy about responsibility for controlling access to the Internet, and Internet service providers are coming under strong pressure. This issue has become particularly sensitive following moves by the Metropolitan Police to encourage service providers to prohibit access to sites containing illegal pornographic material.
