Article Abstract:
Rock group the Rolling Stones has cancelled concerts due to take place in the UK in summer 1998 for tax reasons. This follows tax changes introduced by the UK government in the 1998 budget under which appearing in the UK in 1998 would make the group members and their support team liable for a retrospective tax bill on earnings in Europe and the US. The government has taken a tough stance against the Rolling Stones, stating that it is not prepared to be ordered around by tax exiles.
