Raider of the last park

Article Abstract:

DreamWorks, Steven Spielberg's film company, is planning a studio development on the last piece of unspoiled open land in Los Angeles, CA. This development will include 13,000 housing units, a large amount of office space and 600,000 sq ft of shopping malls. The project has attracted strong opposition from environmentalists, especially as filmmakers are normally pro-environmental. Even if DreamWorks decides at the last minute not to go ahead, it is unlikely that the wetlands will continue to be a habitat for rare animals and birds.

Hollwood swears by censorship

Article Abstract:

Filmmakers are very aware of the classification their film is likely to receive from the British Board of Film Classification. It is common for them to deliberately manipulate the classification system in order to attract a certain audience. They may include swear words in order to gain an '18' classification, for example, knowing that many people younger than 18 will be attracted to the film simply because it is '18' rated. Against this background, it is possibly now time to reconsider the classification system.
