The five women who make up the music group the Spice Girls are all very keen to emphasize that women can be extremely powerful when they work together. They believe that girl power can bring total control and that they have gone beyond conventional feminism. However, their success has in fact been engineered by men. They have a male promoter, their book was ghostwritten by a man and their songs are co-written by men. They are promoting a female image which has actually been created by men.

They are respected for their marketing abilities, but not for their views about literature.
