Talmudic scholar Naphtali Wieder was born in Sighet, Austro-Hungarian Empire, in 1905. He was regarded as a rabbinic prodigy as a teenager, and studied in a German theological seminary. His first published work appeared in 1947.

Professor Philip James

Law scholar Philip James was born in Croydon, England, in 1914. He studied Law at Trinity College, Oxford, England, and became a Research Fellow at Yale University. He was called to the Bar at the Middle Temple in 1939.
