Hillary Clinton has reacted very positively to the most recent allegations about her husband's extra-marital activities. Rather than becoming upset or bitter, she has apparently remained poised and calm. She has sought the best possible legal advice, and is reported to be extremely focused. She has maintained her personal integrity, and has remained fiercely loyal to her husband. Her approach to this crisis may even be the main factor in saving Clinton's political career.

They could have queued all night

Article Abstract:

The exhibition of 21 paintings by Vermeer at the National Gallery of Art in Washington has attracted great interest, with some people queuing for many hours. It took many years to organise the exhibition, as only 35 of Vermeer's 45 paintings remain in existence and they are scattered around the world. After being shown for a short time at the Mauritshuis, they will be returned to their owners and most will probably never be seen by the general public again.

There were often lavish parties at the White House in the time of the Reagans, but Hillary and Bill Clinton have much more modest and austere tastes. Only four State Dinners have been given in the last two years, and a White House invitation is now not so eagerly sought after as it used to be. Some observers see this decline in Washington social life as part of a trend which began in the 1970s.
