Mad gigs and English firestarters

Article Abstract:

Rock group The Prodigy believes that performing in unusual places, such as Beirut, Lebanon, keeps its music fresh. Its members do not select unusual places in order to highlight political issues, unlike U2. Indeed, they admit that they do not really gain an insight into the places where they perform. There were many difficulties associated with arranging the performance in Beirut, and Power Productions is likely to have lost a considerable sum of money on the performance. Only the relatively wealthy attended the performance, as tickets sold at around $30.

Attic attack

Article Abstract:

Pop group Alisha's Attic, which came to public attention in the UK in early 1996, was very successful with the singles 'I Am I Feel' and 'Alisha Rules the World.' Efforts are now being made to establish the group in Japan, and its two members, Karen and Shellie Poole, are therefore undertaking promotional work there. They have found it hard to adapt to Japanese customs, and have had to deal with a very busy schedule, but it is generally believed that the group has good prospects of becoming popular in Japan.

Back from down under

Article Abstract:

Australian rock 'n' roll group The Go-Betweens has always displayed considerable talent, but has never really gained the recognition it deserves. It is unusual to see signs of the group's influence, even though a considerable number of its fans play in rock groups or write for the rock press, and sales of the group's six studio albums have been limited. The group's music is particularly interesting for its lyrics, which are funny without being comical and sorrowful without being maudlin.
