Ivor Mairants

Article Abstract:

Guitarist, composer, writer and teacher Ivor Mairants was born in Poland, but came to the UK with his family just before the outbreak of the first world war. He taught himself to play the banjo, and had his first professional engagement at the age of 15. He worked for various dance bands, and began to play the guitar too. He formed his own guitar quintet, and in the late 1930s was employed by Sir Thomas Beecham to play the mandolin for Ezio Pinza in a production of 'Don Giovanni.' He also appeared in two films.

Jack Muggeridge

Article Abstract:

Civil engineer Jack Muggeridge was born in Sanderstead, England, in 1909. He served in the Royal Engineers during the second world war, and later worked as Provincial Engineer in the Zaria Province for the Ministry of Works in Nigeria.

Isaac Guillory

Article Abstract:

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Isaac Guillory was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, in 1947. He began playing the piano at the age of seven, and later studied music and sound at the Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL.
