Green and pleasant pedigree

Article Abstract:

There are many attractive gardens to visit in the UK. One of the best is at Heale House in Middle Woodford, England, where an enormous Magnolia x soulangeana surrounds a genuine Japanese teahouse over a tributary of the river Avon. The garden at East Bergholt Place in East Bergholt, England, is particularly attractive in spring, when the rhododendrons, magnolias and camelias are in full flower. The garden at Long Close in Woodhouse Eaves, England, has formal lawns, long herbaceous borders and a wilder area with rhododendrons, magnolias, amelanchier and cherries.

The ultimate herbal remedy

Article Abstract:

The evergreen herb germander is easy to strike from cuttings. It is hardy in winter, and does not require watering in summer. It is less formal than box, and does not take nutrients from the soil to the same extent as box. It has long been valued for its medicinal properties, and is also very attractive, producing pinkish-purple flowers from the middle of summer to early autumn. It can be grown as hedges which form a border for a herb garden.
