Daughters of the revolution

Article Abstract:

Today's young women do not feel under pressure to get married, and those who do marry do so at a later age than was the case in previous generations. They feel able to choose how to structure their own lives, opting for marriage but not children or a serious relationship but not marriage, for example. However, they still face some disadvantages, both academically and in the workplace. Women tend to be paid less than men, and have less leisure time than men.

Article Abstract:

Many observers believed that prostitution would gradually disappear as the status of women improved, with women being able to take greater control of their lives and find alternative ways of earning a living. However, prostitution has in fact adapted to new social conditions, and will remain as long as men continue to hold the real economic power. Men are always going to want to go to prostitutes, many of whom do not see themselves as victims in any case.

War has always been seen as the greatest form of human endeavour, with its sacred traditions being viewed with reverence and respect. Ordinary people accepted it as necessary evil, and regarded it as defining masculinity. However, it is now time to abandon the belief that war is worth dying for, moving away from the view of war as a 'supreme sacrifice.'
