Nimbus Records is using a combination of highly advanced equipment and modified old equipment to remaster material for its 'Prima Voce' series of early vocal recordings. The mastering is undertaken digitally, but in all other ways the procedure follows the principles of analogue sound. The company's main challenge is finding very good quality copies of original 78rpm records to record from. This is a particular problem in the UK, where records were made as inexpensively as possible.

It is vital that the members of a band are attuned musically with each other, according to trumpeter Guy Barker. He is well known for his relaxed approach and democratic principles, and this has helped him to form a band made up of people of many different nationalities. It does not help if the members of the band are nervous, as the music must flow. Being a band leader brings responsibilities, and it is inevitable that tension will arise sometimes.
