Are they belted up in the back?

Article Abstract:

There is now a greater awareness among the general public that children must be properly belted up if they are to be safe when travelling by car, and this in turn is putting pressure on manufacturers to give more attention to this issue. However, many child restraint systems are still being used incorrectly, and it is thought that only 23% of children in the UK actually sit safely in cars. The government has taken no action so far, and there is still no legal compulsion for children under the age of three to travel in child seats.

The car industry has become increasingly international, with many cars having components from several different countries. However, most still have traits which reveal their true origins. Italian cars, for example, tend to be extravagent, with their design reflecting Italian fashion and architecture. German cars are more varied, with those produced in the south having more design flair than those from the north. Swedish cars are safe and solid, while French cars are renowned for their suspension systems.

Are car alarms more trouble than they're worth?

Article Abstract:

Latest car anti-theft devices such as immobilisers are claimed to have led to a fall in thefts of expensive cars. However, such devices can also cause problems for the legitimate driver of the car. An immobiliser can activate without warning, while an alarm system can lock the driver outside the car. Insurance companies usually demand that expensive cars are fitted with such equipment, but this is not necessarily to the advantage of the owner.
