Former French president Francois Mitterrand was very interested in spirituality and death, according to Marie de Hennezel, a hospice psychologist in Paris, France, who became very close to him as his death approached. She has now written a book, 'Intimate Death,' which deals with her work of helping terminally ill people to die. She believes that Mitterrand came to the conclusion that nobody can know about life after death, and that he decided simply to make the most of life.

Having a heart-lung transplant has proved a very traumatic experience emotionally, according to Claire Sylvia. She believes that she has taken on some of the personality traits of the man whose heart and lungs were inserted into her, and now feels that a second soul is sharing her body. She has become more masculine, and has even found herself being attracted to rounded, blonde women. Efforts to trace her donor confirmed dreams which she had already had about him.
