The Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'Dramatic Art: Theatrical Paintings from the Garrick Club.' The earliest painting is Johann Zoffany's 'David Ross as Hamlet,' which shows an actor on the London stage in the 1750s and is a clear portrayal of the formal, declamatory style of delivery which was popular at that time. Other works on display include 'David Garrick as Macbeth and Hannah Pritchard as Lady Macbeth,' which shows a shift towards a more natural style of acting.

The 'Nicolas Poussin: The Father of French Painting' exhibition currently being held at the Royal Academy, London, covers more than 80 paintings by the artist. It is very well worth visiting, as it contains some of Poussin's best works. He was extremely inventive, creating many kinds of open structures, and his paintings reflect his great love of life. He remained highly creative right until his death, and continually reinvented himself.

The National Gallery, London, England, mounted an exhibition, 'Rembrandt: the Master and his Workshop' organised by the Amsterdam Rembrandt Research Project. Scholars tried to demonstrate differences between Rembrandt's own paintings and those of his workshop, but this exhibition fails to prove them correct. Rembrandt paints with vitality and includes the unexpected. His works have inconsistencies with fluctuating attention to detail.
