A broadside from the king of the north

Article Abstract:

Barrie Rutter, artistic director of theatre company Northern Broadsides, is very keen to ensure that the company's productions are true to the original text and that design and lighting remain minimal. He acts in almost all the productions, and when acting is careful not to retain his role as a leader. The company as a whole has a very direct approach, and all actors speak with their native northern accents.
