Article Abstract:
The civil war in Zaire is set to turn in favour of the rebel troops fighting for Laurent Kabila's Alliance of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of the Congo as they prepare to take the town of Kisangani. It seems very likely that the country will be renamed the Congo, giving a strong reminder of its colonial past. Kabila has been fighting for the liberation of the country since the 1960s, when Che Guevara was also involved, but that that time rebel troops did not even get close to Kisangani, which was then known as Stanleyville, another reminder of the country's colonial past.

Article Abstract:
The UK's main political parties seem to be giving very little attention to foreign affairs as they campaign for the forthcoming general election. This has been the case in the run-up to all general elections since 1857. However, history indicates that foreign affairs are often an urgent issue for a new government. Against this background, foreign affairs should be an important element in the election campaign. In particular, questions should be raised about the future of the Foreign Office.

Article Abstract:
UK Labour party leader Tony Blair has moved his party much closer to the Conservative party, and there is now very little difference between them. The UK is now coming close to being a one-party state, with the real ideological splits being located within the two main parties, rather than between them. Against this background, politicians soon begin to look very similar, and will eventually become interchangeable.
