Article Abstract:

The city of Bruges, Belgium, is a very attractive destination for a short pre-Christmas break. It is easy to walk around its compact centre, and there are many interesting historic buildings to look at. It is worth climbing up the belfry tower in the Grote Markt, and visitors may also wish to hire a bicycle to see more of the city. Markets are held on Saturdays on 't Zand and on Wednesdays on Grote Markt. Cultural attractions include Michelangelo's marble 'Madonna and Child' in the Church of Our Lady in Marienstraat.
