They are set to distribute free shares worth 23 billion pounds sterling to 19 million investors. Experts believe that it is wise not to sell the shares immediately, as their value will rise considerably in the longer term.

Article Abstract:
The shift in investor sentiment towards cyclical stocks has played a key role in the performance of equities in 1999. Cyclicals dominate the FTSE 250, with the All Share thus performing more strongly against the FTSE 100, which on Sep 22, 1999, closed below the 6,000 mark for the second consecutive day. Some observers are concerned that the pace of economic growth, particularly in the US, is too strong. This would have a negative impact on the FTSE 100 and the All Share, which respond closely to trends in US economic performance.
