The transformation of an overseas Chinese family--Three generations of the Eu Tong Sen Family, 1822-1941
Article Abstract:
The way in which an 'overseas Chinese family' of Eu Tong Sen acquired a unique habitation called 'Euston', a distinctive Gothic-style castle in the frontier society of Modern Asia is discussed. The idea of building a castle as one's own residence is a small but revealing part of the cultural transfer that symbolized the East-West interaction in Maritime Asia.

Hong Kong is viewed from the perspective of the Pearl River Delta qiaoxiang. The nature of the links established and maintained between the Pearl River Delta qiaoxiang and the various destinations, and the role of Hong Kong in developing and maintaining these links is examined.
