Tackling Africa's developmental dilemmas: is globalization the answer?

This article addresses the impact of globalization on Africa. The author argues that since the advent of the global economy Africa has suffered from erosion of state power and has been turned into a begger in the international community, withica's only solution being the empowerment of the continent through the exercise of state power over the developmental process.

Political transitions and ethnic conflict in Africa

Article Abstract:

One of the arenas of politics in Africa where the complexity of transitions has had its full impact is ethnicity and ethnic conflict. Politicized ethnicity is a critical factor in the search for stable democracies in Africa and should be mainstreamed in transition studies rather than treated as mere problematics of the transition process.
