Jews in the cathedral

Article Abstract:

The Jewish figures in Stefan Lochner's adoration of the Magi in the Cologne cathedral are discussed. Painted in the 15th century, these Jews were not the extreme stereotypes of Jews in most medieval art, and show that to Lochner Judaism was the basis of Christianity.

The sound of memory

Article Abstract:

Sound's role in cultural memory is discussed using several iconic sounds separating German and Jewish memory. Hitler's voice and Klezmer music are among the examples used. The sound of memory would probably be a more descriptive phrase than the sites of memory.

Article Abstract:

Urban studies and cultural geography should be used to interpret architectural forms and using literary criticism in this endeavor is criticized. The sites do not have symbolic meaning per se.
