Gracq et les signes: le probleme du sens dans 'Le Rivage des Syrtes.' (Julien Gracq)

Article Abstract:

Julien Gracq's writing contains many allusions to other writers. His 'Le Rivage des Syrtes' alludes in many places to Andre Breton's 'Nadja.' It is possible to find the equivalent of the Gracquian signs in Breton. Signs for Gracq do not portend a meaning so much as an event that is going to happen. For Breton, the event is the sign and maybe the promise of meaning, but there is no meaning. 'Le Rivage des Syrtes' is in a way a continuation of 'Nadja.'The text of the article is in French.

Gracq, lecteur de Poirier

Article Abstract:

Julien Gracq was the literary pseudonym of Louis Poirier, a professor of history and geography at the lycee Claude Bernard in Paris. Poirier's interest in geography is reflected in the fiction of Gracq, especially in his more autobiographical works. The conjunction between physical and psychic space has parallels to the relationship between geography and autobiography, or between Poirier and Gracq. Article text is in French.
