Article Abstract:
The evolution and relevance of autonomous communities in precolonial times using Igboland as a case study is discussed. The British government found setting up a colonial administrative structure particularly tasking due to the spirit of independence characteristic of Igbo communities and all it was able to do was to provide superstructures through which the communities were brought within the orbit of the colonial administrative structures.

A study regarding salvation for Africans that hinges upon employing indigenous African educational paradigms, which can be subsumed under the rubric or ubuntugogy which is defined as the art and science of teaching and learning undergirded by humanity towards others is conducted. It clearly shows that ubuntugogy is undoubtedly a part and parcel of the cultural heritage of Africans but needs to be revitalized in their hearts and minds.
