Tom Hyland is a professional card counter. Essentially, his work involves joining a game of blackjack in casinos and counting cards to determine his chances in the next rounds. Hyland has sued the Griffin Investigations, which identifies card counters and reports them to casinos.

An appreciation of the work of the late Richie Ashburn, one of the team of sportscasters for the Philadephia baseball team is presented. The teamwork and friendship of Ashburn and his co-broadcaster Harry Kalas, and Kalas' plans to continue broadcasting, are discussed.
