Article Abstract:
Folklorists must create a bridge between the purpose of scholarship and society's policy makers in order to apply folklore to the political realm. Folklore's purpose is to identify the character, values and rights of traditional people. The application of folklore must protect those traditional qualities in a mainstream culture. Folklorists must be viewed as other organizational professionals and must at times adopt the language of those professionals to further their interests.
