Article Abstract:

In 1996, when George Anni bought the building that housed the Applejack Deli on Spruce Street in Philadelphia, he intended to renovate it and reopen it as a deli. Restaurant fashions change, however, and when Valanni was launched early in 2001, its menus offered dishes that were based in Mediterranean cuisine, with strong Latin influences.

A woman narrated her experience of watching her first R-rated movie, Private Lessons, with her younger sister. She also narrated how her father reacted against the experience and against pornography in general, going so far as to file a lawsuit against Budco-Goldman Theatres Inc.

The works of playwright Tom Donaghy have been criticized for being too derivative of David Mamet's works. He talks of his influences in light of his latest play, "Minutes From the Blue Route", which opens at the Philadelphia Theatre Company in January 1998.
