Article Abstract:
The House of Lords in the UK ruled that a break notice was legal even though it contained an incorrect date. The ruling made on May 21 1997 will have implications for all UK landlords and tenants. Any tenants receiving a notice must respond rapidly particularly if it contains incorrect information. Tenants and landlords should copy words used the lease as part of their notice documents. The Lords ruling only applies to contractural break notices.
