The changing face of recreation

Article Abstract:

Tourism plays a vital role in the economy of the county of Kent, and the UK government realises that it is vital to develop this sector further if tourists are not to be lured abroad by the opening of the Channel Tunnel. Against this background, it is prepared to sacrifice some greenbelt land to tourism schemes, a move which would not be acceptable elsewhere. Estate agents and property developers believe that many of the leisure and tourism schemes which are currently being planned stand a good chance of going ahead.

Article Abstract:

The government is believed to reconsidering its policy on listed buildings to take into account both the need for conservation and economic factors. Communing with nature

Article Abstract:

Kent county council is hoping to meet the projected rise in demand for housing by promoting mixed-use schemes and projects which make use of regenerated land. In this way, it will not be necessary to use up green belt land. In all cases, it is proving necessary to strike a balance between meeting demand for housing and protecting the environment. It is also vital to consider the implications of building homes a long way from necessary facilities.
