Article Abstract:
North West England has begun to attract a considerable number of hi-tech companies. These include Javelin Systems, which is to base its European headquarters in Warrington, England. The region has also proved a popular location for call centres, and this has prompted the Speke Garston Partnership to link with Merseyside Training and Enterprise Council and Knowsley metropolitan council to train potential call centre employees. There are good communications links, with Manchester Airport being a particular attraction.

Article Abstract:
There are indications that the UK may see a shift away from large regional distribution centres and towards smaller, local centres. This would be a particularly strong trend if the government introduces stricter regulations on the expansion of road transport. Local distribution centres will come into favour if environmental considerations make it more expensive to move goods over longer distances. However, it is also possible to foresee regional distribution centres and local centres co-existing.
