New rules for assured shorthold tenancies

Article Abstract:

The Housing Act of 1996 in the United Kingdom has changed the rules regarding length of tenancy for shorthold residents. Previously a tenancy had to last 6 months which also allowed the tenant the right to notify the rent board in order for a review of the level of rent to take place. Now that tenancies no longer need a fixed time of duration casual agreements between landlords and their tenants may proliferate.
