Article Abstract:

Michael Hirst, formerly chairman and chief executive of Hilton International, is using his persuasive powers to great effect as chair of the Joint Hospitality Industry Congress. The 53-year-old hospitality guru is seen as the ideal person to advise the hotel and catering industry on its strategies for the new century and is the driving force behind the industry's promotion of itself as a large and powerful growth sector. The U.K. hospitality industry is worth around 50 billion pounds sterling a year and employs about 11.5% of the total British workforce.

Article Abstract:

Stephanie Knell of the UK charity Crisis stresses an urgent requirement for suitable accommodation for the homeless in central London, UK. She believes that building owners have nothing to fear from Crisis organised shelters and hopes to convince people of this in the run up to Christmas 1996. Crisis requires buildings with open, ground floor space of between 929 square meters and 2,322 square meters and utilities such as water and electricity.
