Article Abstract:
The Council for Urban Economic Development and the American Economic Development Council merged earlier in 2001 and formed the International Economic Development Council. The main concern of this association was the economic development community that was often called upon to answer a myriad of questions by site selection consultants. The clarification and streamlining of this process was the goal of the newly merged association.

Economic development professionals have formed a Siet Selection Task Force to facilitate providing data to companies considering locating an operation in a particular area. In standardizing the data tables to make the process easier, the tak force has focused on ease of data entry; the next step will be to focus on the attractive presentation of the data.

Many industries in United States tend to locate their units based on the time zones followed by their clients. Consequently, time zones like the old and new Eastern Time Zone affect the economic development in regions surrounding it. Issues related to time zone are discussed.
