Accuracy of property performance forecasts

Article Abstract:

Forecasts of the performance of the UK real estate industry are related to forecasts for the performance of the economy as a whole. Errors in forecasting general economic performance thus affect forecasts for the real estate industry. The collapse of prices after 1989 was not forecast because the economy was expected to undergo a soft landing. Clients may also pressurise forecasters to give them news they would like to have. Real estate companies should be aware of the limitations of forecasts.
