Strong growth is predicted in the real estate yields market after 2000 despite equities performing better over the longer period. Investors are taking a more considered view of the real estate market, preferring to put money into property rather than gilt bonds as a way to improve investment returns. The market is being driven by high expectations from investors who consider the real estate market to be less risky than was previously thought.

Slowdown suspends play on LPs

Article Abstract:

Investor confidence in limited partnerships has been negatively affected by concerns about the lack of liquidity, the overcrowded nature of the market place and economic decline. Fewer limited partnerships are therefore being launched in 2001 than in 2000. Some observers feel that investors are now seeking alternative ways of using collective investments, such as offshore unit trusts.

Westbrook in 365m pounds sterling UK debut

A large off-market portfolio has been purchased in the UK by US opportunity fund Westbrook Partners for 365 million pounds sterling. The portfolio covers 20 buildings with an average lot size exceeding 18 million pounds sterling.
