Article Abstract:
The Laser Connection's PS Jet PostScript Laser Conversion Kit, costing $2,995, converts non-PostScript printers into PostScript-compatible printers. The PS Jet Plus printer, also from The Laser Connection, is an economically priced PostScript laser printer that uses a Canon engine. The conversion kit has an Appletalk port to work with a Macintosh, but does not have a parallel port to work with IBM PCs and compatibles. The PS Jet PostScript Laser Conversion Kit provides memory of 2Mbytes and resolution of 300 dpi. The kit also comes with four built-in fonts; additional fonts are available from The Laser Connection.

Dataproducts Corp's LZR-2665 "heavy-duty" laser printer is quick and has two 375-page input trays. The LZR-2665 is ideal for Ventura Publisher and Quark Xpress documents. The LZR-2665 requires additional memory for downloading of fonts and bit map processing. Downloading slows printer speeds. Dataproducts suggests that buyers purchase an annual maintenance agreement from 3M or TRW, for around $4,000 (the maintenance cost varies, depending on the number of pages per month printed). The LZR-2665 prints 26 pages per minute and has a memory of 2.5Mbytes.
