Bitstream of Cambridge, MA, releases The Fontware Library and Fontware. The Fontware Library contains 80 typefaces in 20 $195 font packages. The Fontware program creates bit-mapped characters for printing or screen display. Adobe Systems of Mountain View, CA, plans release of PC versions of the fonts in its Adobe Type Library this fall. The library includes 128 PostScript outline fonts already available for the Macintosh.

Laser Control 2.2, created by Insight Development Corp, provides a laser driver for the HP Laserjet and compatibles. A printer driver must have a driver that matches one of seven emulations: Diablo 630, Epson MX-80, IBM Graphics Printer, Qume Sprint 5, or an NEC, 3550, 5510, or 7710. The product, which costs $150, requires 128Kbytes, two disk drives, and DOS 2.0 or later. The product seems high priced.

Xywrite III 3.1 ($395; upgrade from Xywrite II Plus, $100; upgrade from Xywrite II, $200) is a capable word processor; the product is fast and is especially suited to preparing long documents. Xywrite III 3.1 require 256Kbytes and DOS 2.0 or later. The product is called 'a strong partner for a phototypesetting system'.
