Article Abstract:
The 1996 Mead Annual Report Conference went beyond its traditional role in recognizing and advancing excellence in annual report design to discuss larger forward-looking issues concerning business and design. Chair Lana Rigsby conveyed the sense that graphic designers will increasingly help in advancing corporate performance. The conference was a gathering of such eminent designers as Bob Vogele, Robert Miles Runyan, Peter Harrison, and Jim Cross, and also proved to be a generous and optimistic party for the industry as a whole.

Article Abstract:
ABV Taller de Diseno is a small graphic arts studio that was started in 1985 in Caracas, Venezuela. The studio with its designers, Oscar Vasquez, Analiesse Ibarra, Carolina Arnal, and Waleska Belisario, is continuing to pursue its vision of excellence in serving its clients despite difficult economic conditions. The studio prefers to use a workshop approach in handling its projects which helps encourage input from everyone in the studio thereby yielding different points of view in developing ideas.

Dana Arnett's goal as a graphic arts designer is to simply and directly express his client's themes. His firm, VSA Partners Inc., follows this guiding principle which has been a cornerstone of its success. Arnett believes in an open process of creation in completing a project that even involves the client. Clients include Harley-Davidson and the Chicago Board of Trade.
