Article Abstract:
The New York Times prided themselves on their punctiliousness and wanted reporters and line editors to know individually to put it right when something went wrong and be responsible for putting it right. There was an issue that occurred with Jayson Blair when readers complained and it created problems for the New York Times and it was like a canyon of opportunity which politicians bent on restricting freedom seeked to exploit.

Journalists in an age of instant news and technology find it extremely difficult to keep up with the wonder of instantaneous communication, where deadlines do not matter much. The lack of a deadline, involves a lack of anything much below the surface and a relentless chase after some pack rather than a search for meaning or point.

A research was conducted to know whether press enjoys too much freedom and should newspapers get government approval before they publish. It is found that if the press does not use the freedom to inform, energize and reveal then they will surely lose the attention.
