Article Abstract:
Eating disorders are a manifestation of the western culture though they have been in existence for many centuries, in different forms and different cultures. The disorders are basically due to the differences between the chthonian or the feminine, earth-tied aspect and the Apollonian trait that represents male domination and opposes nature. Anorexia nervosa represents a female's reaction to the Apollonian traits and is often undetected, or is diagnosed as another disease. A reduction in the conflict between the chthonian and the Apollonian traits may be the best way to prevent the disorder.
