Social adjustment over 10 years following diagnosis with bulimia nervosa

Article Abstract:

A standardized measure of social adjustment has been used to assess social adjustment among women diagnosed with bulimia nervosa more than 10 years earlier. The sample showed improved social adjustment when compared with a sample of actively bulimic women. However, there was evidence of poor adjustment compared with a community sample. The longer women have been free of disordered eating symptoms, the more likely they are to function effectively at work and have good overall social adjustment.
