Hopelessness and suicidal ideation among adolescent in two cultures

Article Abstract:

The cross-sectional and longitudinal associations among cognitive variables, depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation in Hong Kong Chinese and Caucasian American adolescents are examined. The results support hopelessness theories of suicidal ideation and behavior in Hong Kong, and extend the cognitive theory of suicidality to modernized Asian culture.

The relation between the absolute level of parenting and differential parental treatment with adolescent siblings' adjustment

Article Abstract:

The absolute level of parenting practices and differential treatment is examined in a sample of 288 Dutch families consisting of two parents and two adolescents. Differential parental treatment is uniquely associated with child problem behavior above the absolute level of parenting for girls and early-born children in mixed-gender pairs.

Management of child and adolescent eating disorders: The current evidence base and future directions

Article Abstract:

Good quality research is lacking inspite of the long history of treating eating disorders. It is suggested that almost any adequately powered well-conducted trials would add knowledge to the gaps in the knowledge base regarding effective treatments in child and adolescent eating disorders
