Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to clarify the mechanism of hypercholesterolemia in anorexia nervosa patients. Results show that serum levels of cholesterol, cholesterol ester transfer protein and apolipoproteins decreased after weight gain, indicating that cholesterol metabolism is accelerated in patients with anorexia nervosa with normal serum levels of free fatty acid.

This article examines whether women who are highly arousable, currently dieting, and are sensitive to the bitterness of saccharin exercise excessively. The authors, assessing responses to a questionnaire, conclude sensitivity to the bitterness of saccharin predicted hyperactivity in highly aroused female dieters which reveals another factor in anorexia nervosa.

This article examines the frequency and characteristic of obsessive-compulsive disorder compulsions in a large sample of anorexic patients. The authors conclude that the phenotype characteristics shared by anorexic and obsessive-compulsive disorder patients demonstrate that the disorders share a common brain behavioral pathway.
