Child-related disagreements, verbal aggression, and children's internalizing and externalizing behavior problems

Article Abstract:

Dual-income parents with an oldest child 18-60 months of age were tested on the Child-Rearing Disagreements Scale, the Child Behavior Checklist and the Verbal Aggression subscale of the conflicts and Problem-Solving Scale. Verbal aggression did not moderate the link between child-related disagreements and child-behavior problems for either mothers or for fathers.

Differential susceptibility to discipline: the moderating effect of child temperament on the association between maternal discipline and early childhood externalizing problems

Article Abstract:

The interplay of child temperament and maternal discipline in predicting externalizing behavior problems in 1 to 3 years old children is studied. The results show that children with difficult temperament, when exposed to positive discipline show fewer externalizing problems then when exposed to negative discipline.

Long-term effects from a randomized trial of two public health preventive interventions for parental depression

Article Abstract:

Family-centered preventive measures for families with parental depression are examined using randomized trials. The results show that brief, family centered preventive interventions to treat parental depression are effective in the long-term improvement of family functioning.
