Arterial vascularization of the mandible and maxilla of neotropical primates

Article Abstract:

A comparative macroscopic study of the arterial vascularization of the mandible and maxilla of neotropical primates of the genera Cebus, Alouatta, Callithrix and Leontopithecus was conducted to analyze the vasculature patterns. It was concluded that the arterial vasculature pattern is similar in the genera studied and resembles the human pattern, but there are notable variations in the vasculature of the mandible and maxilla among these four neotropical genera.

A survey data is presented that was collected for a workshop on environmental enrichment and behavioral management of nonhuman primates. The analysis might serve as a tool for internal evaluation and ongoing assessment of program progress and resource allocation at facilities' institutional animal care and use committees (IACUCs), thereby providing a yardstick for facilities as well as policy makers and regulators

Sleeping sites, sleeping trees, and sleep-related behaviors of black crested gibbons (Nomascus concolor jingdongensis) at Mt. Wuliang, Central Yunnan, China

Article Abstract:

A study on the sleep-related behaviors of a group of central Yunnan black crested gibbons at Mt. Wuliang, Yunnan, China, is presented. Predation hypothesis, thermoregulatory hypothesis and resource exploitation hypothesis on their choice of sleeping sites, sleeping trees and other sleep-related behaviors were tested.
