Multi-impulsivity among bulimic patients in Japan

Article Abstract:

Many people with bulimia nervosa (BN) have generalized disturbance of impulse control. The impulsive features among BN patients in Japan were examined. There were similarities between BN patients with multi-impulsivity (MI) in Japan and those with patients in the West, in clinical and psychopathological characteristics.

Personality disorders in patients with eating disorders in Japan

Article Abstract:

Japanese patients with eating disorders and at the same time, have personality disorders are reported to have more serious clinical features as they manifest bulimic behaviors and obsessive-compulsive symptoms and are more concurrent depressive and anxious. Furthermore, they are also the persons who have numerous suicidal attempts and hospital admissions. This is believed to be caused by having poor family relationships, being economically unstable and being socially unadjusted.

Altered body fat distribution after recovery of weight in patients with anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

Patients with anorexia nervosa show a significant decline in total bone mineral content, total lean body mass and total fat mass. These patients regain body fat with weight gain during recovery. Recent research indicates that patients with anorexia nervosa show central fat distribution when their body weight normalizes. This may be explained by the fact that adolescent females with central obesity could be more vulnerable to developing anorexia nervosa.
