Acute liver damage in anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

The clinical course and medical treatment of severe acute multiorgan dysfunction and acute liver damage in a patient with anorexia nervosa (AN) is illustrated. It is found that the combination of malnutrition and a critical reduction in the perfusion of the liver and other organs is most likely responsible for acute liver damage and multiorgan dysfunction.

Suicide in anorexia nervosa: A meta-analysis

Article Abstract:

A meta-analysis was conducted to compare data reported in representative studies of suicide in anorexia nervosa with data for the general population. The meta-analysis showed that suicide among patients with anorexia nervosa is more frequent when compared with the general population.

Achalasia mimicking prepubertal anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

This article discusses a case in which a 9 year old girl suffering form esophageal achalasia was misdiagnosed as having prepubertal anorexia nervosa.
