Article Abstract:
A scientific paper employed connectionist models to support the hypothesis that early cognitive limitations help rather than obstruct development. However, it is argued that because of the genetic basis of these limitations, connectionist simulations should refrain from using a tabula rasa approach to development and should incorporate genetically inherited constraints. The behavior of the organism causes undersampling in Artificial Life Neural Networks while in 'classical' neural networks, undersampling is brought about by the genes.

Article Abstract:
The fifth edition of the 'Handbook of Child Psychology' features Bill Damon's review of the historical development and milestones of developmental psychology. The future of the 35-year-old psychological science is dependent on its origins and present historical trends which focus on self-conscious reflection on the true nature or definition of development. Furthermore, methodologies on developmental psychology should be modified based on a relational stance that will lead to the development of new empirical methods.

Article Abstract:
The development of the Piagetian perspectives on developmental or child psychology was influenced by Jean Piaget's studies on psychoanalysis and autistic thought. Piaget's psychological theories focused on the transitional forms between logical thinking and autistic thought that were incorporated in a developmental continuum. Piaget's work was also influenced by his studies on sociology, philosophy of science, theories of knowledge and biology.
